What’s a Fleshpot?

A fleshpot is so ancient it dates back to the book of Exodous, in the Old Testament of the bible. It was a pot for cooking meat, and back in the day, because of the large size of the tribes, it must have been a huge pot. The word became associated with bodily comforts, luxury, excess and licentiousness. (Licentiousness means: immoral, lewd, lustful, unchaste or sensual.) I guess hangin’ around the fleshpot was a lot like hangin’ around the campfire while the chow’s roasting or hangin’ around the coffee pot or better yet, hangin’ around the beer keg at a party. One can only imagine the conversations around the fleshpot. Or the actions of some that gave the cooking pot such a bad name.
