Who Does Princess Kate’s Hair? A Maid-in-Waiting?

Historically, a maid-in-waiting was selected from high-ranking or noble families. A maid-in-waiting attended and advised the queen, princess or other nobility. I’m not sure if they are the same or not but another title, “ladies in waiting,” sometimes became mistress of the king or other nobility. Ladies-in-waiting of the Elizabethan era had to play an Elizabethan musical instrument, attend masque balls, and be skilled at upper-class dance styles, reading and embroidery. Ladies-in-waiting were chosen to keep company and know confidential information about their royal companions and to keep that information discreet. Above all, loyalty was expected.
